Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioural Psychotherapies

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a clinically proven treatment for many difficulties including Anxiety, Depression, Panic, Phobias and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The treatment works by helping the client to make gradual changes to thoughts or behaviours which have been identified as problematic and keep the difficulty going. CBT is recommended in the National Institute for health & Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines as the treatment of choice for these difficulties.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is the recommended treatment for people with Emotional Intensity Disorder. During the course of treatment the therapist helps the client to achieve a more balanced view of the world and themselves which impacts on managing emotions and reducing distress. The techniques used are applicable to anyone who experiences intense and rapidly fluctuating emotion.
