About us

Free Your Mind Therapies is a family-run practice based in Worthing, West Sussex. For mother-daughter team Cathy and Rebecca Groome, family is very important and young people and children are at the heart of what they do.

‘Supporting children and families is what we do best’

Cathy & Rebecca

Cathy has a background in primary school teaching and Special Educational Needs. She has many years of experience in supporting parents and young children, as well as being an Advanced EFT & Matrix Re-imprinting practitioner.

Whilst Cathy has now retired from offering direct treatment, she remains a valuable support to the Free Your Mind Therapies, as she allows her specific expertise to be drawn upon during in-organisation consultation.

Rebecca is a BABCP- accredited Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) therapist and is also qualified in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and associated mindfulness practices. She incorporates her varied knowledge and skills into the workshops which she runs, as well as using them to provide specific treatment packages for individual therapy. Over the years she has worked with many young people and their families in a variety of capacities both within the NHS and in private practice. Rebecca not only is accredited with the BABCP but also holds both a diploma and degree for mental health nursing. She studied at postgraduate level for her CBT qualification and achieved her qualification in DBT through the UK National Intensive Training.

Rebecca has a special interest in supporting children and families where there are additional needs. Via her 15 years of CAMHS work, she has experience in stage 1 assessments for ASD and ADHD, as well as supporting families adjusting to medical diagnoses. Although Free Your Mind Therapies is unable to provide a diagnosis for ASD and ADHD, we are able to identify characteristic traits of these types of disorders and provide supporting statements for other organisations and educational establishments where necessary.

Rebecca has a vast array of experience in treating both adults and children with a range of difficulties, with good outcomes and positive feedback (see testimonials page). She is an active member of the BABCP’s special interest group for children and families, helping to drive forward innovation and training in this area.

‘This combination of experience and expertise enables us to bring a broad range of knowledge, information and high quality teaching to our groups and workshops. We believe that preventative healthcare should start in the very early years.
We are passionate about giving all children the tools to support themselves when faced with difficult situations, unwieldy emotions, lack of confidence and social difficulties.’

Free Your Mind Therapies in Worthing is committed to helping children and parents to work together to understand each other better. They believe that everyone should have access to the tools and techniques that they teach, which will enable them to lead happier, healthier and more contented lives.
